Is a signed quote a binding contract?

A quote that states the price and terms and is accepted by the buyer generally forms a contract, and an electronic signature is a valid way to accept in most business sales. What exactly the buyer agreed to depends on the wording of your quote and terms, so have those reviewed by your lawyer.

Can finance approve after the customer signs?

Yes. Put finance as the last signer. They are invited only when the buyer has signed, see the accepted quote and countersign. The deal is complete when the envelope is.

Can the buyer enter a purchase order number?

Yes. Add a text field for the PO number and mark it required or optional. You can also add a dropdown for payment terms and a checkbox to accept your terms of sale.

Can I link the signed quote to payment?

On Plus and above you can add a payment link field that points to your own invoice or payment page. We do not process payments on your behalf.

How do I know when a quote was opened?

The envelope timeline shows sent, viewed and signed with times. On Plus you can also receive a webhook for each event and update the deal in your CRM.

Why it matters

The gap between yes and signed

A buyer who says yes on a call is ready at that moment. If the next step is print, sign, scan and send back, the quote joins a pile, the quarter ends, and somebody asks for a discount to restart the conversation.

A signing link removes the pile. The buyer taps the email, checks the total, signs. The rep sees the status change to signed, and finance gets the countersign request automatically. Nobody forwards attachments.
