Dropbox Sign pricing starts at $15 a month for Essentials (one user) and $25 per user a month for Standard on monthly billing, or $10.05 and $17.50 per user a month on yearly billing. Standard needs at least two users, teams of five or more are sent to sales for Premium, and the API is a separate subscription from $75 a month. For a team of ten senders that adds up to about $175 to $250 a month before any API, which is why growing teams compare it with plans that include seats.
We sell an eSignature product ourselves, so everything below uses Dropbox Sign's own public pricing pages, read in October 2026, and our own published prices. Vendors change their pricing often. Check the live page before you sign a contract.
Dropbox Sign pricing plans at a glance
Dropbox Sign, the product formerly called HelloSign, sells two separate things: the web app that people use to send documents, and the API that developers use to put signing inside their own software. They are priced independently.
| Plan | Who it is for | Monthly billing | Yearly billing | Users |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essentials | One person | $15 a month | $10.05 a month ($120.60 a year) | 1 |
| Standard | Small team | $25 per user a month | $17.50 per user a month | 2 or more, sales above 5 |
| Premium | Larger team | Custom quote | Custom quote | 5 or more |
All three app plans list unlimited signature requests. The differences sit in templates, team management, branding, bulk send and security options such as SSO, which move up the tiers. Dropbox Sign's pricing page lists these as package features, so open the plan comparison on their site to see which tier carries the one you need.
How much does Dropbox Sign cost for a team?
The Standard plan is the team plan, and it is priced per user. That makes the arithmetic simple: multiply the number of people who send by $17.50 on yearly billing or $25 on monthly billing. People who only sign never need a license on any tool, so count senders, not signers.
| People who send | Dropbox Sign Standard, yearly | Dropbox Sign Standard, monthly |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | $35 a month | $50 a month |
| 3 | $52.50 a month | $75 a month |
| 5 | $87.50 a month | $125 a month |
| 10 | Premium quote, about $175 at the Standard rate | Premium quote, about $250 at the Standard rate |
Above five users Dropbox Sign asks you to talk to sales, so the ten person row is the Standard rate multiplied out, not a published price. Your quote may be higher or lower depending on the features you add and the length of the contract.
Dropbox Sign API pricing
If you want signing inside your own app or portal, the web app plans are not enough. The Dropbox Sign API has its own price list. The vendor page shows an Essentials API tier at $75 a month ($900 a year) starting at 50 signature requests a month, and a Standard API tier at $3,000 a year starting at 100 requests a month, with Premium on a custom quote. A free test mode lets developers build before paying.
Two things catch teams out here. First, the API counts signature requests, so a busy integration moves you up the volume tiers. Second, the API subscription is on top of any app seats your staff still use to send documents by hand. A team that does both pays twice.
Our own eSignature API is part of the Pro plan rather than a separate product, with embedded signing and signed webhooks included.
Is Dropbox Sign worth the price?
For one person, yes, it is one of the cheaper ways to send unlimited documents for signature, and the signing experience is clean. Essentials at about $10 a month on yearly billing is hard to beat if you are the only sender and you do not need templates shared with anyone.
It gets less obvious as a team grows. Every new colleague who sends adds $17.50 to $25 a month, bulk send and branding sit on the team tiers, and anything beyond five users is a sales conversation. If your volume is low but your headcount of senders is high, you end up paying for seats that sit idle most of the month.
Dropbox Sign pricing compared with a seats included plan
The alternative pricing model is a company plan with a fixed number of seats and a monthly envelope allowance. That is how we price SignElectronically, so here is the honest side by side for a team.
| Dropbox Sign Standard | SignElectronically Plus | |
|---|---|---|
| Price model | Per user | Company plan, 10 seats included |
| 10 senders, yearly billing | About $175 a month (sales quote above 5 users) | $74 a month ($888 a year) |
| 10 senders, monthly billing | About $250 a month | $149 a month |
| Volume | Unlimited signature requests | 500 envelopes a month |
| Bulk send from a CSV | Team tiers | Included, up to 200 per batch |
| API | Separate subscription from $75 a month | Included in Pro ($249 a month yearly) |
| Best for | One to four senders, or teams that need unlimited volume | Teams of 4 to 10 senders sending up to 500 envelopes a month |
Where Dropbox Sign wins: unlimited requests. If one person sends 2,000 documents a month, a per user plan with unlimited volume is cheaper than any envelope based plan, ours included. Dropbox Sign also sits inside the Dropbox ecosystem, which matters if your files already live there.
Where a seats included plan wins: a team where many people send a moderate amount. Ten people sending 30 to 40 documents each a month fit comfortably in 500 envelopes, and the bill does not change when you hire the eleventh sender until you outgrow the plan. Our Starter plan covers 3 seats and 50 envelopes for $24 a month on yearly billing, which suits a small office that sends a few contracts a week.
Per seat software costs are easy to lose track of once a company runs twenty subscriptions. If that is the bigger problem, a tool that tracks SaaS spend across every subscription shows which seats nobody uses before the next renewal.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Dropbox Sign?
For a single sender, not by much. For a team, yes. Any plan that includes seats rather than charging per user costs less once four or more people send. At ten senders, SignElectronically Plus is $74 a month on yearly billing against roughly $175 for Dropbox Sign Standard at the same headcount, and it includes bulk send, shared templates, SMS signer codes and webhooks. Our full Dropbox Sign alternative comparison covers features beyond price, and the same seat arithmetic for other vendors is in DocuSign pricing explained and signNow alternatives for teams.
What you lose and keep if you switch
Documents you already signed in Dropbox Sign stay valid after you cancel. Download each completed PDF and its audit trail first and file them in your own storage, because access to the archive ends with the subscription.
On SignElectronically you get a field editor with signature, initials, date, text, checkbox and dropdown fields, sequential, parallel or mixed signing order with CC recipients, automatic reminders and expiry dates, and a sealed PDF with an audit certificate listing every event with UTC time, IP address and SHA-256 hashes. What you do not get: unlimited volume, payment collection inside the signing flow, or a native Dropbox integration. If those three matter more than seat cost, stay where you are.
Teams with a seasonal peak, such as CPA firms sending engagement letters, usually feel the per user cost most. We explain how that works in electronic signature for accountants.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Dropbox Sign cost per month?
Dropbox Sign Essentials costs $15 a month on monthly billing or $10.05 a month on yearly billing, for one user. Standard costs $25 per user a month on monthly billing or $17.50 per user a month on yearly billing, with a two user minimum. Premium is quoted by sales for five or more users.
Does Dropbox Sign have a free plan?
Dropbox Sign offers a free tier with a small monthly allowance of signature requests and a free test mode for the API. Both are meant for trying the product, and business features such as templates for a team and bulk send are on the paid plans.
Is Dropbox Sign the same as HelloSign?
Yes. HelloSign was acquired by Dropbox and renamed Dropbox Sign. The product, the API and existing accounts carried over, and searches for HelloSign pricing now lead to the Dropbox Sign price list.
How much is the Dropbox Sign API?
The Dropbox Sign API is sold separately from the app plans. The vendor page lists an Essentials API tier at $75 a month or $900 a year starting at 50 requests a month, and a Standard API tier at $3,000 a year starting at 100 requests a month. Higher volumes and Premium are quoted.
Is Dropbox Sign cheaper than DocuSign?
Usually, yes, per user. Both price per user, and Dropbox Sign's Standard seat costs less than DocuSign's comparable business seat on public list prices. For a team of five or more, a plan with seats included is often cheaper than either.
Can I cancel Dropbox Sign and keep my signed documents?
Yes. Documents signed through Dropbox Sign remain legally valid after you cancel, under the ESIGN Act and UETA. Download the signed PDFs and audit trails before your subscription ends, because you lose access to the archive in the app.
